Short Term Accommodation

Doctors Group Short Term Accommodation is your home away from home.

Looking For Short Term Accommodation? We understand that the need for short term care can arise suddenly and for a range of reasons.

Our Short Term Accommodation services are a quality respite program where your loved one will be looked after in a comfortable and relaxed environment. They are the perfect home away from home for people with disability to enjoy over a weekend or a few weeks. Respite can strengthen a family’s ability to care for a loved one with disability and stay together as a family.

While your loved one is looked after, a carer can enjoy:

  • A night of uninterrupted sleep
  • A weekend break at planned intervals during the year
  • A perfect opportunity to do renovations or upgrades around your house.

NOTE: If you are only wanting a couple of hours during the day to ‘do your own thing’ – Please contact Day Programs

Is Short Term Accommodation covered under the NDIS?

Respite may be an area that can be confusing for many people transitioning to the NDIS. The NDIA now recognises the importance of carers and families maintaining their health, wellbeing and resilience in order to meet the needs of people with disability.

There are three levels of respite-like supports available for funding as part of plans:

  • Level 1: 7 to 14 days per year to allow the carer to attend key activities
  • Level 2: 14 to 28 days per year and includes a strategy to build capabilities for future independence.
  • Level 3: Equivalent of 28 days per year, when the carer provides support most days and informal support is at risk of not continuing due to the intensity of the support required or severe behavioural issues.
